As delivery has exploded, we have seen the big delivery platforms setting up sales channels that separate small businesses from their customers and then charging steep premiums to put Merchants in their walled gardens. We realized that the current offerings only worked for limited industries and mostly for big companies who could integrate their inventory. At the same time, major Online marketplaces are taking business away from local shops simply because people don’t want to go in to stores. We realized the best thing we could do is build a simple platform that connects merchants with drivers, dispatches deliveries and facilitates the payments to drivers… and then get out of the way.
We are far from your typical corporate startup. We have built «bqn» from the ground up to help small businesses compete with Online and big-box rivals. Everyone on the «bqn» team comes from small business and entrepreneurial backgrounds ranging from dry cleaning to local events to bee-keeping. That said, all of us have had experience in the delivery business (including as drivers) and know how valuable a real partner can be in taking a business to the next level.
We believe that merchants should work directly with their customers and that fair rates for all parties will build a long-term ecosystem that helps everyone succeed.
