Denver Nov. 15 – bqn executives are taking to the streets to support Denver businesses this holiday season.  The Colorado based startup is offering a no commitment “gas money” offer to small businesses to help them compete with big box and online retailers by offering a low cost alternative for what they have dubbed, “Store-to-Door” Service.  In order to offer $5 (half-price) within Denver, the founders will be driving orders themselves so on-demand courier partners are not impacted.

“Small shops are struggling to source enough staff to provide in-store support.  Owners are working even longer hours doing all the extras – even running to the post office.” noted Doug Bohm, bqn VP of Marketing.  “We really wanted to support our community – including dropping off their mail.  bqn never takes a percentage of orders anyway, but we’re also waiving service fees.  Basically, we’re charging gas money to try out our platform.”

While a number of food and beverage delivery services, including grocery shopping apps have sprung up and have even become a staple during the pandemic, very few options have existed for small retailers.

“The current delivery options direct customers to order through their sites, require integrations and trigger additional fees,” Alex Gorelik, founder and President of bqn says.  “What we’re hearing is that these options just don’t work for small retail businesses.  We’ve taken a much simpler approach by staying out of the customer experience and only facilitating the driver dispatch.  That means retailers can simply turn it on so bqn maintains much lower fees and retailers keep their profits on orders rather than sharing a percentage.”

“We have merchants who are telling us that they get asked for delivery by their regular customers even though they’re not advertising it and sometimes they’re just running items out after work or having someone leave the store to do it,” said bqn VP of Sales David Mathias. “Now they’re just too short-handed to do that so they’re looking for a flexible option.”

bqn “gas money” delivery is being offered for a limited time within Denver city limits on regular sized retail purchases with 1-3 day turn-around times beginning now through the holidays.

About bqn: bqn is a Denver-based technology startup disrupting the on-demand delivery space by providing a back-end technology that connects retailers with drivers, and stays out of the customer relationship.

“Merchants tell us that they often get asked for delivery by their regular customers even though they’re not advertising it and sometimes they’re just delivering items after work or having someone leave the store to do it,” said bqn VP of Sales David Mathias. “In today’s market, these extra folks likely aren’t around, and what a shame to miss sales because you don’t have a dependable delivery option.  We think all store owners should check out bqn so that they can maintain competitive in this uncertain time.”
